چکیده

Different quantifier types in Quantified Boolean Formulae (QBF) introduce variable dependencies which have to be taken into consideration when deciding satisfiability of a QBF. In this work, we focus on dependencies based on syntactically connected variables. We generalize our previous ideas for efficiently representing dependency sets of universal variables to existential ones. We obtain a dependency graph which is applicable to arbitrary QBF solvers. The core part of our work is the formulation and correctness proof of a static and compact, tree-shaped connection relation over equivalence classes of existential variables. In practice, this relation is constructed once from a given QBF and allows to share connection information among all variables. We report on practical aspects and demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach in experiments on structured formulae from QBF competitions. Further, we show by example that the common approach of quantifier scope analysis is not optimal among syntactic methods for dependency computation.

Representing Policies for Quantified Boolean Formulae

The practical use of Quantified Boolean Formulae (QBFs) often calls for more than solving the validity problem QBF. For this reason we investigate the corresponding function problems whose expected outputs are policies. QBFs which do not evaluate to true do not have any solution policy, but can be of interest nevertheless; for handling them, we introduce a notion of partial policy. We focus on ...

Dependency Schemes and Search-Based QBF Solving: Theory and Practice

The logic of quantified Boolean formulae (QBF) extends propositional logic with universal quantification over propositional variables. The presence of universal quantifiers in QBF does not add expressiveness, but often allows for more compact encodings of problems. From a theoretical point of view, the decision problems of propositional logic (SAT) and QBF are NP-complete and PSPACE-complete, r...

Function problems for Quantified Boolean Formulas

The practical use of Quantified Boolean Formulas (QBFs) often calls for more than solving the evaluation problem QBF. For this reason we investigate the corresponding function problem FQBF. We define expected outputs of FQBF instances as solution policies. We focus on the representation of policies, considering QBFs of the form ∀X ∃Y Φ. Because the explicit representation of policies for such Q...

An annotation scheme for Persian based on Autonomous Phrases Theory and Universal Dependencies

A treebank is a corpus with linguistic annotations above the level of the parts of speech. During the first half of the present decade, three treebanks have been developed for Persian either originally or subsequently based on dependency grammar: Persian Treebank (PerTreeBank), Persian Syntactic Dependency Treebank, and Uppsala Persian Dependency Treebank (UPDT). The syntactic analysis of a sen...
